Sylvain Cambreling may be a modest man but his ideas are certainly not, notoriously demonstrated by his booed and admired collaboration with director Marthaler in the Marriage of Figaro (Salzburg 2001) when Cambreling produced creative, controversial and hugely successful musical ideas, which included recitatives played on unusual instruments such as a glass harp and even a beer bottle.

Less well known for his talents as an orchestrator, musicologist, narrator and linguist he is one of the most creative programmers in the music world of today.
